The #CastleLiteUnlocks J. Cole concert was by far the most highly anticipated event on Jo’burg’s social calendar.

The rapper brought his classic hit Dreams to life on Saturday night at the Ticketpro Dome as he captivated more than 20 000 of his fans with his stage presence and charisma.

For one night only the Love Yourz hip hop sensation wowed concert goers that had waited with bated breath to see him live since the big announcement of his coming in March.

Castle Lite FILLED the Dome. Many come from all over South Africa for this once in a lifetime event.

Their eagerness and excitement was tangible as they danced along and sang along with the self-acclaimed king of modern hip-hop.

The American rapper, dubbed as one of the best in the rap game, had fans in a frenzy as he belted out hit after hit showcasing his gift for poetic lyrics and beats.

Castle Lite also assembled a hot line up of local hip hop stars that thrilled their fans.

The initial five acts announced as opening for J.Cole were were rappers Reason, EMTEE, Kwesta as well as DJ Vigilante and Speedsta. They stormed the stage and gave J.Cole a run for his money. As if that was not enough, Reason did a stint with Shane Eagle.

To celebrate the booming crop of local hip hop artists, the South African flag was flown high by the likes of HHP, Nova, AKA, Khuli Chana and Cassper Nyovest who were brought in by Kwesta and Speedtsa with KiD X, Nasty C, Proverb, Ginger as well as Yung Swiss.

R&B lovers were represented by the sultry Easy To Love singer Bucie, while Motswako rapper, Fifi Cooper held the fort for female hip hop artists.

More rappers like Benchmark who was featured by EMTEE took to the stage as well as Sjava, Saudi, DJ Vigi featuring Maggs and KO, and not forgetting DJ Capital.

Other high profiles spotted in the crowd included Rhythm City’s David Genaro aka Jamie Bartlett, his co-star Samkelo Ndlhovu and TV presenter and actress Pearl Thusi.

Marketing Manager for Castle Lite, Vaughan Croeser says, “This concert, in collaboration with J. Cole, was certainly the place to be! The fans’ excitement was palpable and the vibe was electric as they waited in anticipation for J. Cole to come onto the stage. It was also amazing to hear the crowd’s roar as some of South Africa’s favourite artists made their way onto the stage – all in all a great success.”
